At the end of 2015, we purchased a school bus from an online auction on the spur of the moment, and Casey surprised Talia with a baby puppy that we named Gizmo. We were trading up from the Roadtrek Van that we had been living in for about a year, and we were excited! Here's a little clip of our little fur baby exploring our new space. What a cute little puppy butt!

It has been a few years of rest for us as we started our family and spent time connecting to the Brush and New Raymer areas. But... the time has come to get started again on the bus! Stay tuned for updates as we take our bus from "waiting" to "fabulous"! We can't wait to get into our new home. Follow along as we get started!

August 21st! Where will you be?

Casey has been putting in a lot of time getting the work done on the bus. His brother Shane came out and helped too. It's nice having wonderful family helping us fulfill our goals. We have now removed all the side windows and replaced them with metal panels that we are riveting in place. The metal panels are all painted with primer to make our final paint job go more smoothly. Having windows all over is really lovely, and we would have loved to have kept them. We are planning on traveling and staying in some colder places though, so it is important that we have better insulation than the windows provide. We will adding a nice thick layer of insulation to the insides of the bus, and then we will also be putting in RV windows. Things are coming along!

Casey has been hard at work removing the floor and ceiling of the bus. The floor had a heavy vinyl on it that was covering wood base. We removed both so that we could treat and replace any rusted metal on the floor. There was some rust so we will be working on that next. It was important to us to start with a good solid surface. We are pulling out the old dirty insulation from the ceiling and walls. We will be replacing that with higher rated insulation so we can travel in colder places. We will also be cutting out a few rusted spots on the exterior of the bus so we can replace those with better metal.

Have you hiked up to the gazebo? There are stunning views of the Continental Divide, Granby and Granby Ranch. It's a short 5 minute hike with a big reward!

We are getting the windows pulled out and metal panels installed in their place. We will be installing rv windows later on. These windows will provide better insulation. We are pulling off the walls and ceiling panels, we will remove the current insulation, and install higher rated insulation in its place. We are riveting on the new metal panels throughout to help keep things water tight.
