His Joshua House's success - 25 men on average complete the program successfully each year - is their dedication to addressing the men’s needs while in recovery and providing them tools, skills, and resources to continue their success beyond the residential program. The foundation of His Joshua House’s program is faith-based treatment and the 12-step process. Additionally, practical needs are addressed, including legal issues and assistance in getting identification, their driver’s license, and/or their social security card. “Many of these man don’t have what to most are practical, every day items, in their possession when they come here,” says Dr. Thompson. “We make sure they are set up for success in life, success in actually living their lives.”
Community service is a requirement of the program, as is finding and keeping employment. Residents may stay up to a year for free, and the money they earn goes into savings or towards a vehicle and other practical needs. From there, residents may transfer to a transition program that may include low-rent housing options, which allow them time to apply the critical skills they learned at His Joshua House to the real world.
