Not sure why this came up in my feed this morning, but it's true.
You should never judge a book by its cover (or people by their appearance) .

PIANO PLAYER / KEYBOARD ARTIST AVAILABLE!

Now that we're getting closer to the busy season I wanted to remind everyone that I'm available to entertain your guests/clients/patrons (Midcoast & Downeast Maine).

I play several genres and styles of music (over 500 pieces). I absolutely love to play for people. I can provide tasteful background music while guests are eating or something more lively and interactive.

DINNER / COCKTAIL MUSIC? No problem!
Back in the day most of the finer establishments would feature a live pianist either with an in-house pianist or rotating guest pianists.
I know how to play to entertain people without interrupting their meal or their conversations.

By the same token I always keep an eye on the audience/guests.
If people look like they want to interact, make a request, sing Sweet Caroline 🙂, or want me to wake up the old rocker in me and play something wild and fast, I do my best to keep them happy.

HOSTING A WEDDING? (love it!)
I can provide live music for the rehearsal dinner and the ceremony. The digital keyboard I bring is capable of recreating the sounds
of many different instruments including pipe organ, piano, strings, brass, woodwinds ... I can play the "traditional" wedding music or whatever the bride chooses.

Some brides want all the traditional (old fashioned?) preludes, processional, recessional, interludes, postludes. Others prefer something less formal.

PRIVATE PARTY? (let the fun begin)
Great! Does it have a theme? Even better! Just last week I played for a private birthday party with a Roaring Twenties theme at a Victorian Inn in Stockton Springs.

The guests all dressed in period costumes as did I.
I played as the guests arrived and as they ate after which they all participated in a dinner murder-mystery (and they were having a blast).

I've dressed like Santa and played Christmas parties, or as a scary "dead piano player" for a Halloween Haunted House.

GIVE THEM ANOTHER REASON TO COME TO YOUR PLACE
I frequently have people come up to me when I'm playing at a venue to tell me how much they enjoyed the music.
And I'm always looking for additional ways I can help attract more people to your place.
For example, I'm working on a Name That Tune "show" in which your guests interact with me as I play snippets of tunes (and play some all the way through).

One setup involves "bingo cards" that contain song titles. The participants can purchase the cards or you can just hand them out, your choice.
The idea is to keep them drinking/eating while they have fun playing the game. You can even have prizes for the "winners" (gift card, bottle of wine, etc.).

THE MAINE PIANO MAN WEBSITE: (includes videos and pictures)
(or everything you wanted to know about me but were afraid to ask)
Please take a few minutes to poke around my website
https://www.MainePianoMan.com
It contains a lot more information about me, my music, videos of me playing, some of the places I've played, and some testimonials.

COMING TO BUCKSPORT?
You are welcome to visit my music studio in Bucksport. I could play for you (I have a lovely grand piano I had sent over from Estonia, and several keyboards) and we can talk about how I can enhance your guests experience.

BTW,
I'm also a professional piano tuner with over 40 years experience.

New addition to my music studio.

Actually it was on the outside of our house but after two years facing south the colors had faded.

Still ok for inside, mounted a new one outside.

On his 84th birthday in 1923, John D. Rockefeller, one of the wealthiest men in history, was famously photographed giving a nickel to a child. This act became symbolic of his public persona during his later years—a mix of humor, simplicity, and philanthropy. While he was known for his immense fortune, accumulated through the success of Standard Oil, Rockefeller had a penchant for handing out dimes and nickels to strangers, especially children, as a lighthearted gesture.

By this stage in his life, Rockefeller had retired from active business and devoted himself to philanthropy, focusing on education, public health, and scientific research. He established institutions such as the Rockefeller Foundation, the University of Chicago, and Rockefeller University, leaving a legacy that extended far beyond his business empire.

The nickel-giving habit, though modest compared to his large-scale donations, highlighted a personal quirk that humanized the industrial magnate. It was also a subtle reminder of his disciplined approach to money, rooted in his humble beginnings, where he meticulously tracked every cent. This small, symbolic act underscored his belief in the value of wealth as a tool for building a better society.
