7 Elk Street in Albany, New York has gone through just a few changes since its original construction in the 1830s.

Originally owned/ built by William P. Van Rensselaer, and designed in an early Federal style was eventually converted from a single-family home into private offices. Soon, it will be converted to 13 rentable units. It has become one of the latest examples of residential-to-office-to-residential conversions in the Albany area.

Preservation Studios assisted with the Part 2 and Part 3.

Congratulations are in order!

130 Pearl Street in Buffalo was awarded a Brick by Brick award for its adaptive reuse project, which converted a ca. 1916 building into apartments and street-level commercial space. Preservation Studios assisted with Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of the historic tax credit application (HPCA).

1 East Avenue in Lockport was also awarded a Brick by Brick award for their renovation of the historic former Lockport post office, which is now office space and Big Ditch Brewing's second location. Preservation Studios assisted with the Part 2 and Part 3.

This past week we were excited to attend Preservation Awards ceremony at the . It was incredible to see all of the historic preservation work that is being done across WNY.

Two of our client’s projects were awarded this year!

Best Commercial Project (Niagara County): The Lockport Post Office. Preservation Studios assisted in the NR listing, Part 2, and Part 3 work.

Legacy Business Award: Alden State Bank. Preservation Studios assisted in the Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of this project.

Well deserved accolades to another one of our clients! Preservation Studios' team loved working on the Part 2 and Part 3 for this project. Be sure to check out the Preservation Buffalo Niagara Preservation Awards tomorrow night-- who knows, maybe they'll have Big Ditch there, just like at 1 East Ave in Lockport!

A peek inside the old post office in Lockport. This was restored by in 2025 and now has inside of it! The historic tax credit project was led by Preservation Studios.
This adaptive reuse work was submitted for a Preservation Award and was selected as Best Commercial Project in Niagara County! We will be seeing more details of the project and celebrating tomorrow (Thursday!) at the Richardson Hotel / Campus for our annual Preservation Awards. There are some tickets left!
