You know the name. Not everyone knows the story.

It started as Unique Excursions by Bear — named for my dad, whose nickname was Bear.

Five years ago, we lost him. And when we came out the other side of that grief, we made one small but meaningful change: by became with.

Because he’s not gone from this. He’s with us — with every itinerary we build, every client we send into the world, every moment that takes your breath away in a place you’ve never been.

The spirit of Bear is the joy of exploration. It’s the belief that the people you’re with matter more than the place you’re going. It’s an almost stubborn insistence on finding magic in every moment — even the ones you didn’t plan for.

This week I was on vacation with my best friend from childhood — a girl my dad basically claimed as his honorary daughter. We were together, laughing, being ridiculous — when we looked up and saw this.

A full solar halo rainbow. Rare. Bright. Right above us.

That surprise and delight is exactly what he stood for.
