Many of you ask what days I can guide you. My usual response is: let me know what day you can go and I'll see if MLAGS can accommodate you, as we have a bullpen filled with talented associate guides like Lewis Williams, Phil Harris, Chris Jones, Tim Covington, John Worsky and Trevor Lanham. When I cannot guide or am already booked, these men represent. I do have the following dates available to personally guide: September 8, October 22, 23, 26 and 30, November 9-12, December 4, 30 and 31. I hope we can share a boat with you and your crew this fall. For those of you that are good planners, I will also open my 2027 dates (think winter lunkers and saugeyes) November 1. Our winter fishing is excellent and with El Nino it might be very mild this year.

Josh and Jenny with a nice brace of summer largemouth for release post photo back at Highpoint Marina - Lighthouse Inn. I made an adjustment today and instead of making the fish come to us, we went to them with a classic summer finesse tactic. Made the difference.

Kinda cool morning at 61 degrees and the lake down to 80 in some areas, still 88 in others. Ed Hanley and I lost our first two fish but rallied and ended up with a nice batch. Many bass now on small bait down lake. Striper are on the move!

Always fun to fish some place totally different than Lake Anna. My son and I visited the Chickahominy River yesterday and targeted tidal largemouth in grass and lily pads.

That’s more like it! Pops (Tony) and his grandsons had a Lake Anna Hat Trick of largemouth bass, wiper and crappie this morning. Fun with the young and the young at heart - this is one of my favorite kinds of trip.

Thomas Klapmus’ Grandma Jean booked a trip for her grandson today and MLAGS Associate Guide Tim Covington put the 16-year-old on some good summer Lake Anna largemouth! Please join me in congratulating Tim on his first trip milestone with MLAGS. He’s going to a good one.

Dane and his son Ean with me this morning. Dane wanted his son to catch some Lake Anna largemouth and he did using a variety of summer patterns. Water back up to 86 at Highpoint Marina - Lighthouse Inn. Anyone else get the Animal

Many fish breathing easier today, but I am saddened to share the news that MLAGS Associate and Consiglieri Albert “Sonny” Gleason has gone on ahead. Sonny joins Doug Ball on the great lake beyond as one of the Lake Anna fishing community’s and MLAGS’ best. He loved fishing. He loved guiding. He loved his bull dogs and his audio systems. He loved fixing up friends’ boats (my son’s old Ranger included). He was a loyal and trusted man/advisor. I had to bring on three more associate guides to try and accommodate all the clients he guided. He was such a devoted friend. We all loved him. The lessons he taught us will live on. The devotion of friends like Phil, Larry and Sticky Buns show how much he was loved. I will miss that NY accent, the great stories and his contagious enthusiasm. Good bye my dear friend. Thank you for honoring me with your devotion and friendship. It was an absolutely life altering relationship. When appropriate I will share celebration of life information.
