🎥 Duel (1971) – Chuck’s Café

One of the most memorable scenes in Duel takes place after David Mann (Dennis Weaver) crashes through a fence while desperately trying to escape the mysterious tanker truck. Shaken and exhausted, Mann runs from the restaurant and into the parking lot, chasing after the truck and believing he has finally identified the driver who has been terrorizing him. The scene is a masterclass in suspense, as both Mann and the audience are left guessing the truck driver’s identity.

The restaurant featured in the film was Chuck’s Café, which today operates as Le Chêne French Cuisine. The historic stone building was already a well-known stop along Sierra Highway when Steven Spielberg filmed here in 1971, and it remains one of the most recognizable and best-preserved locations from the movie.

The diner sequence provides a brief pause from the relentless highway pursuit, but the tension never lets up. Inside, Mann studies the customers, convinced one of them is the truck driver. After confronting the wrong man, he realizes the tanker is pulling away and rushes outside, continuing the nightmare that has followed him across the desert highways.

More than 50 years later, the location looks remarkably similar to how it appeared in Spielberg’s classic made-for-television thriller.

🎥 Beverly Hills Cop (1984)

One of the funniest moments in the entire film happens right here. After Victor Maitland’s thugs throw Detroit detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) through a second-story window, you’d think the Beverly Hills cops would be looking for the guys who did it. Instead, they arrest Axel.

As he’s being handcuffed, Axel can’t believe what’s happening and fires back with one of the movie’s most memorable lines:

“Disturbing the peace? I got thrown out of a window! What’s the f***in’ charge for getting pushed out of a moving car, huh? Jaywalking?”

The scene perfectly captures the culture clash that drives the movie: Axel’s street-smart Detroit style versus the by-the-book Beverly Hills Police Department. It’s also the beginning of his ongoing battle with the local cops, who quickly learn that Axel Foley isn’t going away anytime soon.

Filmed outside Victor Maitland’s office building, this location remains instantly recognizable more than 40 years later and is one of the most iconic filming spots from the movie.

🎥 Better Off Dead (1985) 🚗💦

One of the most memorable running gags in Better Off Dead happens when Layne (John Cusack) is desperately trying to get rid of the paperboy who’s determined to collect his famous “Two Dollars!” The chase leads Layne to skid into this car wash, hoping the brushes will finally shake him loose.

Filmed at a car wash located at the corner of Scott Rd. and San Fernando Rd. in Burbank, this location is still operating as a car wash today, making it a fun stop for fans of the cult classic.
McCambridge Park is in the background. That park has a famous stage used in Back to the Future!!

🎥. Taylor Swift – “Delicate”

Taylor Swift danced her way through the legendary The Biltmore Los Angeles for the “Delicate” music video, turning this historic hotel into one of the most recognizable filming locations in Downtown LA.

Opened in 1923, this place has been featured in countless movies, TV shows, and music videos over the decades. Some of the biggest include Ghostbusters, True Lies, Beverly Hills Cop, Independence Day, Fight Club, The Nutty Professor, and even Cruel Intentions.

From Hollywood classics to modern music videos, the Biltmore continues to be one of the most filmed hotels in Los Angeles.

🎥 Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

“Help is on the way, dear!” 🚋

Daniel Hillard, disguised as Mrs. Doubtfire, rides the cable car with the family on their way to meet Stu at the country club. One of the most iconic San Francisco moments from the film, with the cable car heading south down Hyde St from the top of Lombard.

For the one pic, I waited until a trolley was coming to match the shot as close as possible.

Filmed at the famous crooked street intersection of Lombard Street and Hyde St in San Francisco.

Robin Williams made every scene unforgettable, and this one perfectly captured the charm of San Francisco in the early ’90s.

🎥 In The Army Now (1994) 🇺🇸

During the film’s final conflict in Chad, Bones Conway (Pauly Shore), Jack Kaufman (Andy Dick), and Sgt. Christine Jones (Lori Petty) take cover among the rocks while waiting for supplies to arrive in the middle of the desert firefight.

The second slide shows Sgt. Christine Jones crouched down behind the rocks for cover as the others rush up from behind to regroup with her during the attack.

These scenes were filmed at the legendary Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park, one of California’s most famous filming locations, seen in countless movies and TV shows over the years.

🎥 🎺 American Pie 2 Filming Location

“Petey?” 😂

One of the funniest scenes in American Pie 2 happens when Jim arrives at “Band Camp,” gets mistaken for Petey, walks on stage… and completely destroys the trumpet performance in front of everyone.

That scene was filmed at the amphitheater in Charles S. Farnsworth Park, a historic 1934 landmark that stood for over 90 years.

Sadly, the amphitheater was destroyed during the January 7, 2025 Eaton Fire along with thousands of other structures across Altadena and surrounding communities.

Seeing this location now hits a lot differently. 💔

➡️ See the second slide for the heartbreaking aftermath of the burned amphitheater.

🎥 36 years ago today, Back to the Future Part III raced into theaters.

Marty McFly finally makes it back to 1985 after Doc’s steam train pushes the DeLorean to 88 mph. Moments later, he slowly rolls through this intersection before the DeLorean is destroyed by an oncoming freight train.

This scene was filmed looking south on Ventura Road at Shoreview Dr. in Port Hueneme. Hard to believe this quiet intersection became the setting for one of the most unforgettable endings in movie history.
