This group is headed home from a fun filled week in the city of New Orleans 🎺
It’s been a week full of adventures visiting Destrehan Plantation to a full day in the French Quarter, Jackson Square, a guided tour with Keith traveling in and out of all the Nawlins neighborhoods & even to St Louis Cemetery #3. A highlight was the must see World War II museum. Our last day was spent at Mardi Gras World & onboard the Creole Queen down the Mississippi. We ended the night with good Creole food, dancing & a little gambling. We’re sad to leave, but happy to be headed back to the great state of Texas.
We’ve ate, drank & been very merry! I always love a week full of laughs with new & old friends!

Yesterday’s itinerary offered a meaningful blend of history, leisure, and celebration. We began with a visit to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and its impressive museum, where we were guided by Tom, a retired service member whose firsthand insight brought the experience to life. The museum’s extensive collection of artifacts and exhibits provided a powerful glimpse into the dedication, discipline, and resilience required of the men and women who train there.
In the afternoon, we enjoyed some free time in charming Beaufort, SC. We explored local shops, grabbed lunch, and soaked in the coastal atmosphere. Of course, I took a timeout in the sweet shop for chocolate and ice cream!
We concluded our stay in Savannah with a memorable evening of dinner and dancing at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. It was a fitting finale! We celebrated together in a setting rich with history, with food, great music, and the company of new friends.

We’ve spent the past few days soaking up all the history, culture, and undeniable charm of Savannah. And I have to say, she is downright delightful. The kind of place that doesn’t just welcome you in, it hands you a sweet tea and tells you to stay awhile.
We hopped aboard a trolley and rolled through the city’s iconic squares. 22 of them to be exact. Each one has its own story, personality, and a few whispers of the past if you listen closely enough. Established in 1733 by James Oglethorpe.
We wrapped up the evening at the historic Savannah Theatre, where we caught Million Dollar Quartet. And let me tell you, it was a rock ’n’ roll good time.
Today, we traded cobblestone streets for coastal breezes and set out to explore St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. These islands are sprinkled with marshlands and wrapped in that laid-back coastal beauty that instantly slows your pace, in the very best way.
Our guide for the day, Theresa, was southern hospitality in human form! Warm, witty, and full of stories that made the places come alive. She led us to a few hidden gems (the kind you won’t find on your average itinerary) and made sure we experienced the islands in a way that felt personal and unforgettable.
If these two islands aren’t already on your bucket list, they absolutely should be. Between the history, the scenery, and just the right amount of salty air in your hair, it’s hard not to fall a little bit in love.

First Travel is Savannah bound! 🤠

We kicked off the trip the only way Texans know how… with a stop at Buc-ee’s of course! No road trip is complete without a little beaver-sized hospitality.
Once we hit the road, the fun continued with a left side vs. right side Savannah trivia battle royale—just to see who could earn a “get off the bus first” spot! Which if you’ve ever been on a bus trip that’s the ultimate prize. Safe to say… the competition was fierce!

On our route to adventure, we made a stop to see the iconic Vulcan Statue. A true Southern landmark with some impressive views and even more impressive history.

Today I also had the pleasure of leading a Texas-sized trivia game with this amazing group… and let’s just say they knew their Lone Star State facts better than I expected! 🤠 If not, I threatened to sn**ch their Texan card

Next up: karaoke and a disco party on the bus… or maybe we’ll keep it chill with a movie and snacks. We’ll see where the road (and energy levels) take us!
