There’s a whole new way to escape into the Peninsula. 🌲

The Skyline Watershed Ridge Trail is officially open, adding six new miles to the Bay Area Ridge Trail for hikers, runners, cyclists and equestrians.

And this one hits more than just the views. Expect sweeping looks at Crystal Springs Reservoir, the Bay, plus stretches through Douglas fir forests and redwood groves — bringing that unmistakable mix of cool forest air, redwoods and the smell of fresh earth along the way.

Basically, a pretty great escape without going very far.

A few things to know before you go: parking is limited and the trail has been busy, so plan ahead and consider an early start. A free annual permit is required and can be grabbed online through SFPUC before you go.

🥾 6 miles one way

TONIGHT’S LOOKING NEAT 🥃

Whiskey is flowing, the food is coming out, the crowd is buzzing, and we’re making our way through some seriously good pours with Pillar Point Harbor as the backdrop.

We’re LIVE from Whiskies of the World in Half Moon Bay and the vibes are HIGH.

Huge shoutout to Half Moon Bay Brewing Company (Half Moon Bay Brewing Co) for hosting what is shaping up to be one heck of a night. 🥃🌊

Tonight might be worth looking up. 🌕👀

A near-total lunar eclipse is taking over the Peninsula sky, with roughly 96% of the full moon slipping into Earth’s shadow and taking on a deep orange-red glow. The eclipse reaches its peak around 9:13 PM tonight.

The only question: will the clouds cooperate?

Your best bet may be to head bayside, where you’ll find wide-open views toward the eastern sky and a little more distance from the coastal marine layer. If low clouds do push inland, heading higher into the Peninsula hills could be worth a shot.

A few spots to try:

📍 Bridgeview Park — Foster City
📍 Burlingame Bayfront / Anza Lagoon — Burlingame
📍 Cañada College — Redwood City
📍 Top of the World — San Carlos
📍 Ralph D. Percival Memorial Vista Point — I-280, Redwood City

No guarantees on the clouds — but if you’ve got an astronomer in the family, chasing the eclipse across the Peninsula might just be half the fun. 🔭🌕

Peak eclipse: 9:13 PM. Look east.

Photography has a way of showing us what we might have otherwise missed. 📸

And on the Peninsula, there’s a lot to uncover.

From the Bayside to the Coastside are places, restaurants, and views you might never expect to find. Sometimes, you just have to see them to believe them.

Here’s to uncovering it all, one photo at a time.

Here’s how to spend a perfect day (or weekend) on the San Francisco Peninsula 😄

1️⃣ Hike through Huddart Park in Woodside

Recommended trail: Crystal Springs and Campground Trail.

- 3.1 miles.
- 508 ft elevation gain.
- 1-2 hours.
- Loop.
- $6 parking fee.
- No dogs.

2️⃣ Exploring the Historic Woodside Store

I had no idea this historic store existed in Woodside, and yet, here it is! It’s a short stop, and it’s free to enter.

But definitely worth checking out to immerse yourself in some local Bay Area history!

3️⃣Kayaking with Redwood Watersports

This is perfect for a warm summer day! We rented a regular kayak and a pedal kayak and had an amazing day out on the water with Redwood Water Sports 😊

4️⃣ A Fancy Dinner at Hurrica

Last but not least, Hurrica. Located right on the water, you can have an amazing dinner and drinks with friends or family. Hurrica Restaurant

They even have a wall of live jellyfish just swimming around. Why? I don’t know, but it’s super cool! 🙌🏽

Have you done any of these yet? 🤔
