Sailors on Lake Champlain contend with ever shifting breezes. We cannot control the wind and weather, but we can make the most of it. A rare direction for us is a North East wind as seen in this photo, allowing our sloop to glide out of the harbor, elegantly framing the historic breakwater lighthouse.

We’ve launched a new offering for 2025: Children’s Educational Cruises! Designed for age groups 5-8 and 9-12, July 1st is the Water Health Cruise and July 8th is the Geology Cruise. We hope to add more dates if these fill up! Learn about Lake Champlain and participate in real science experiments, all while under sail. 27 years ago today Senator Patrick Leahy slipped a line into Senate Bill 927, signed by President Clinton, granting Lake Champlain Great Lake status. Following a small uproar, the status was rescinded 18 days later. If you ask us, it’s still pretty great ♥️

💡🏠 Did you know that the Burlington Breakwater used to have a lighthouse keeper’s HOUSE on it?! How about the story of a shipwreck ⚓️ and daring rescue of the crew of a schooner which crashed into the breakwater in DECEMBER 1876?!
