We went on a short road trip today after setting up camp. Whitefish Point, nicknamed the ship’s graveyard, with a history of hundreds of shipwrecks off the coast, including the SS Edmund Fitzgerald.
Followed by a stop at Tahquamenon Falls State Park. So beautiful, especially with the fall colors starting! 🍁

Today’s adventure took us over the Mackinac Bridge to the UP and the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie. Started out in fog so thick you couldn’t see the bridge, but luckily it cleared pretty quickly.
It was amazing to see the huge freighters move through the locks, which help them to transition from Lake Superior to Lake Huron by raising or lowering the water level!

Took the ferry to Mackinac Island and spent the day exploring this beautiful & unique island on Lake Huron. No cars on the island so bicycles and horse-drawn carriages are the only transportation.
