What does “FREE” really mean on a cruise?

When you see FREE in big letters, it definitely gets your attention!

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Free at Sea can include benefits such as an Unlimited Open Bar, specialty dining, Wi-Fi and shore excursion credits, depending on the terms of your booking.

And those perks can offer some great value.

But here’s the question I want you to ask:

Will I actually use them?

If you enjoy specialty dining, that benefit might be important to you.

If you like having cocktails or w**e on vacation, the beverage benefit may add meaningful value.

Wi-Fi may be offered as a set amount rather than unlimited access, and a shore excursion credit doesn’t necessarily mean your entire excursion is free.

That’s why I always look beyond the promotion.

I want to know what you’re actually getting, what you’ll actually use and what your total vacation investment looks like.

Because a great deal isn’t just about getting something “free.”

It’s about getting great value on the vacation that’s right for YOU.

Looking for whales.

Riding the Alaska Railroad.

Seeing Denali.

Standing outside while mountains pass by your ship and thinking, “I can’t believe I’m actually here.”

THAT is what we’re planning for.

Not simply coming home and saying, “I took an Alaska cruise.”

But coming home saying:

When we sit down for a Discovery Conversation, I’m not just trying to figure out where you want to go.

I want to understand what you want your vacation to feel like.

Alaska is a perfect example.

One person tells me, “Tina, I want whales and glaciers.”

Someone else might say, “If I go all the way to Alaska and don’t see Denali or ride the Alaska Railroad in a dome car, I’ll feel like I missed something.”

Neither answer is wrong.

They’re simply two different versions of an amazing Alaska vacation.

And THAT is why I don’t believe your vacation should begin with, “What’s the cheapest cruise you can find me?”

It should begin with:

“Here’s what I’ve been dreaming about…” 💙

Then we build from there.

Norwegian Cruise Line has four ships in its published 2027 Alaska program, and I wouldn’t automatically tell every client to choose the same one.

Why?

Because they offer different ways to experience Alaska.

Maybe the convenience of a 7-day roundtrip Seattle cruise aboard Norwegian Encore appeals to you.

Maybe the ports on Norwegian Bliss better match what you want to experience.

Have a little more vacation time? Norwegian Joy has select 9- and 10-day Alaska voyages scheduled.

Or maybe you’re thinking, “If I’m going all the way to Alaska, I want to REALLY experience Alaska.”

That’s when we might take a closer look at Norwegian Jade and its one-way sailings between Vancouver and Whittier—and the possibility of extending your adventure on land.

There isn't one “best” NCL ship for Alaska.

I know that sounds a little strange coming from a cruise specialist. 😉

When you start looking at an Alaska cruise, it’s easy to get caught up comparing ships, cabins, restaurants and onboard amenities.

But Alaska is different.

Before we talk ships, I want to know what you picture when you think about YOUR Alaska vacation.

🐋 Seeing whales?
🧊 Getting an incredible view of a glacier?
🚂 Riding the Alaska Railroad?
🏔️ Experiencing Denali?
🛳️ Spending more days cruising and exploring?

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day!

Today is a reminder that life shouldn’t be all work and no play. ❤

We spend so much of our lives working, taking care of everyone else, checking things off the to-do list, and saying, “Maybe someday…”

Someday we’ll take that trip.

Someday we’ll slow down.

Someday we’ll finally go somewhere we’ve always dreamed about.

But what if someday became this year?

Whether your perfect escape is toes in the sand, exploring a charming European town, cruising somewhere new, or simply waking up without an alarm, you deserve time to step away from the everyday and make memories that are just for YOU.

So on this Labor Day, enjoy the long weekend—and maybe give yourself permission to start dreaming about where your next adventure could take you. ✈🌴
