A year ago, history was made on K2 when the body of a climber was recovered from the Bottleneck — the most dangerous and technically demanding section of the mountain.
This extraordinary mission was led by Murad Sadpara and his team, who retrieved the body of Hassan Shigri, a climber who had lost his life on K2 a year earlier. Recovering a body from the Death Zone on K2 is an operation of extreme risk — exposed terrain, unstable seracs, altitude above 8,000 meters. Yet they succeeded, returning him to his family and setting a rare precedent in high-altitude mountaineering.
Tragically, only a week later, Murad Sadpara himself lost his life during an expedition on Broad Peak.
Mountains test courage in many forms — not only in summits, but in humanity.
Respect to those who risk everything, and remembrance for those who never returned.
