Whose land are we on?

Calistoga stands within the traditional homelands of the Wappo people, whose history and connection to Napa Valley reach back thousands of years. The mineral waters so central to Calistoga today were part of what drew the Wappo community to this region, using the resource for bathing and healing.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize that the story of this place did not begin with the city, its resorts, or its vineyards, and that Indigenous history is not confined to the past.

We invite our community and visitors to learn from Native-led organizations and trusted local resources, including:

Napa Valley's first w**ery opened at Charles Krug W**ery in 1861. We can only assume the rest of w**e country took notes.

Just south of Calistoga, the historic estate continues to share its story with vineyard tours and tastings (did we mention cheese, chocolate, and caviar pairings?).

More than 160 years later, we believe history lessons are still considerably better with Cabernet. 🍷
