What's an ofrenda?

One of our favorite parts of ***os is the ofrenda, the altar families create to welcome and remember the people they've lost. Alongside photographs and candles, families often add favorite foods, drinks, flowers, and small objects that say something about the person being remembered. An ofrenda can be as individual as the person it celebrates.

Our new Día de los Mu***os Sand Painting Kit includes four calavera sand paintings, plus a booklet that introduces the tradition and shows you how to create a simple ofrenda of your own.

You don't need anything elaborate. Sometimes one photograph, one favorite food, or one good story is enough to begin.

Boston area friends, we’ve officially hit that stretch of winter where the cold feels personal. Two snowstorms, icy roads, and the kind of weather that makes you look out the window and decide you do not, in fact, need groceries.

Staying home is cozy… until it starts to feel like you’ve been living inside a snow globe.
