3,413 kilometers, 21 stages, and five summit finishes: what’s not to love about the Giro d'Italia? Since 1909, the Giro has been more than a race—it’s a love letter to cycling all across Italy.

The grande partenza kicks off today, and we'll be following the race as it winds through our favorite parts of Italy over the next three weeks. From Puglia to Tuscany in the first 9 stages—including 30 kilometers of gravel on Tuscany’s legendary strade bianche—the route heads north to the Veneto. In its final week, the peloton enters the Italian Alps to tackle the Mortirolo (a highlight of our Dolomites Challenge Tour) and moves west into Piedmont before the grande arrivo in Rome.

If you find yourself inspired by the pros pedaling through Italy, we've got the best cycling routes in Italy, from Puglia to Piedmont.

Anyone who’s been to Italy and tasted the pasta (or olive oil, or wine, or truffles) will insist that words fail to capture the nuances of flavor. “It’s
