💜 The Guernsey County Courthouse will be lit in purple this week in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Month.

June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) are encouraging all Ohioans to help protect older adults by learning the signs of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and knowing how to report concerns.

Elder abuse can happen to anyone and often goes unnoticed. By staying informed and speaking up when something seems wrong, we can help ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of our senior citizens.

If you suspect abuse in a nursing home or assisted living facility, contact ODA’s Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman at 1-800-282-1206 or visit ombudsman.ohio.gov.

Join us in raising awareness and showing support for older adults throughout our community. 💜

The courthouse is bathed in Teal & Blue this month. Teal in support the sextual assault survivors during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The color is associated with trust, healing and representing a commitment to supporting survivors. Blue is in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time for our community to come together to celebrate the small actions each of us can take that make a big impact on the well-being of our children.
