On our first trip of the day today we were lucky enough to catch this whale sighting off in the distance! We don’t often get to see them while out which made it exciting for all!

EDIT: As some have noted, white shark and basking shark fins do look similar. We would have also been super excited about a basking shark sighting, but this one had a white shark tail fin as well that is not pictured and it was feeding on a seal with birds eating the scraps and a flurry of blood and commotion in the water. Basking sharks prefer gentle water and filter feeding. Due to this information, Captain Dom (who has some experience with identifying marine life) with the help of a marine biologist at the Department of Marine resources, we believe this to be a great white shark. Just wanting to state the facts and show folks some cool ocean creatures!

This past Sunday, our 8-hour Lighthouse cruise with the American Lighthouse Foundation was highlighted by an unexpected surprise! Approximately two hours into our trip one of our passengers was able to quickly capture these photos of this incredible white shark sighting! This was a very exciting moment for all!
