Yesterday was our last day of birding Belize before returning home. We were in boats birding the waters off Crooked Tree when the rain, thunder and lightening arrived, we waited it out along with the birds. It was over in 15 minutes. 📷 - Black-collared Hawk - Helen Daly

We’ve had a great day. We start each morning birding the Crystal Paradise Resort gardens. After breakfast we headed to the jungles of Chiquibul Forest Reserve, and on the way back we had great success in the Mountain Pine-Forest reserve. Two different habitats with different species.

Our Belize birding tour had us looking for owls tonight. We also saw the Milky Way, satellites and a meteor. This photo looks a tad invasive with the bus and headlights, but the Mottled Owl did not seem to care, in fact, Roni Martinez added that the lights attract all the critters the owl is looking to eat! It’s on the vine in front of the bus.
