Meet the teams of the Masters Division at the 62nd Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest 🏆Introducing team Hey! Stackers!
"We are a team of family and friends, who love making art on the beach for anyone to enjoy.
My brother, Dave, and I lived in Arcata, CA, where we used to go to the beach every Sunday and make the biggest castles we could.
I think it was in 2004 or 2005 that we convinced our brother and sister to go with us to Cannon Beach to compete in the small group category. We had so much fun that we came back the next year, with several more of our siblings and other family members, to compete as a Large Group, winning our way into the Masters category, where we've been ever since.
As co-captains, Dave and I worked hard to bring ever-better tools and techniques to the team. We expanded our subject from castles to other stuff, finding that we especially love making animals. We also recruited more friends, teaching them whatever we knew about sand sculpting.
Since Dave passed away in 2021, my sisters and I have co-captained, keeping the tradition of fun and inclusiveness going strong. We hope to keep coming out for the Cannon Beach Festival for many years to come"
