✨🏨 Of Disneyland's three resorts, the Grand Californian Hotel is the closest to the parks--and even has it's own entrance into the California Adventure park!

This beautiful hotel was designed to look like an early 20th century Arts and Crafts building, with lots of natural wood and hand crafted terracotta tiles designed by local Californian artisans.

There are several restaurants at the Grand Californian, from the poolside Craftsman Bar, to the fine dining restaurant Napa Rose, to a character buffet at Storytellers Cafe! There's also a spa on site, the Tenaya Stone Spa, the perfect way to relax on a day when you're taking a break from the parks.

This is the most upscale of the three hotels at Disneyland, but the convenience to the parks still makes this resort a great choice if you're traveling with small children who could use a quick midday nap!

✨🍽️ My favorite meal we had in Disneyland had to be at the Lamplight Lounge in Disney's California Adventure!

This restaurant overlooks Pixar Pier, and the Boardwalk Dining in the upstairs bar area is the perfect way to watch the sunset at California Adventure and watch the park start to light up for the evening!

I was happy to see that the bar offered several nonalcoholic cocktail options. Our server recommended the "2319" with orange soda instead of coke--it was delicious, tasted just like an orange creamsicle! The food menu in this bar area is small, only offering shareable tapas style plates, but we absolutely loved both things we ordered to split! The lobster nachos were loaded with lobster and toppings, and the beef dan dan noodles were refreshing and light.

If you're dining with adults in California Adventure, I highly recommend making a reservation for sunset at the Boardwalk Dining area of Lamplight Lounge!

✨🏰 Disneyland Resort has three hotels on property owned by Disney--and the original hotel that opened with the park in 1955 is the Disneyland Hotel!

🚝 This resort has leaned into the retro, midcentury modern theming, with fun additions over the years like Monorail themed pool slides and a popular tiki bar serving dole whips!

The different towers of rooms are named after the classic "lands" of Disneyland Park--Fantasy Tower, Adventure Tower, and Frontier Tower--and the new Disney Vacation Club villas are located in the Discovery Tower!

This is THE classic Disneyland resort to stay at when visiting the parks for the first time, and is perfect for nostalgic Disney fans! You can either walk to the park entrances through Downtown Disney (about a ten minute walk) or take the monorail from Downtown Disney directly into Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park.

I'd recommend staying here if:

✨It's your first visit to Disneyland and you're looking forward to visiting the "OG" Disney park and walking where Walt walked!
✨Staying in the "Disney bubble" and having character dining at your hotel is more important to you than just close proximity to the parks!
✨ You need a bit more space and are looking to stay in the newly renovated one or two bedroom DVC villas!

✨🏰 I saw this Disneyland snack hack in a video from Molly McCormack and this is 💯 worth going to Maurice’s Treats and Bengal BBQ for!!! 10/10 lunch!

✨🏰 Planning a trip to Disneyland Resort in California and not sure where to stay??

Don't limit your choices to the three Disney hotels on property--ask me to recommend a great Good Neighbor Hotel nearby for your family!

While at Disney World in Florida, I always recommend staying at one of the Disney resorts on property for the easy transportation and other numerous perks, at Disneyland, a Good Neighbor Hotel could easily be the best choice for your family!

These hotels are sometimes located even CLOSER to the park entrances than the Disney hotels (we had a 6 minute walk from the Tropicana Inn & Suites to the main gates versus a 15 minute walk from Disney's Pixar Place!), and Disney no longer offers early park entry to the Disneyland resort guests--just one bonus Lightning Lane per trip for each guest (nice to have, but not a decision-making perk IMO)!

And with those savings on your hotel stay? You could add an extra park day, upgrade your park tickets to include park hopper (much easier to hop between parks at Disneyland vs Disney World!) or pre-purchase Lightning Lane Multipass when buying your tickets!! 🙌
