TEAR TROUGH FILLER: LET’S TALK ABOUT THE FEAR. 🤍

There is a lot of fear—and unfortunately, misinformation—surrounding tear trough filler.

The truth? This is an advanced injection. It requires excellent knowledge of facial anatomy, careful patient selection, precise placement, and the correct type of filler. It is not a treatment every injector should perform.

When done appropriately, tear trough filler can beautifully:

✨ Soften under-eye hollows
✨ Reduce shadows that make you look tired
✨ Smooth the transition from the lower eyelid to the cheek
✨ Restore subtle volume without changing your face
✨ Create a brighter, more rested appearance

At SKIN, we use a blunt-tip cannula for tear trough correction, which helps minimize tissue trauma and bruising and is part of our safety-focused technique.

Product selection is equally important. The skin beneath the eyes is incredibly thin. The wrong filler, too much product, or incorrect placement can cause puffiness, irregularities or a blue-gray Tyndall effect.

And perhaps most importantly: not everyone is a candidate. Sometimes an “under-eye hollow” is actually related to midface volume loss, skin laxity, pigmentation or prominent fat pads—and filler may not be the answer.

Serious vascular complications from facial filler, including visual complications, are rare but possible, which is exactly why experience, anatomy and technique matter so much.

Why we’re called SKIN.

When I chose the name SKIN, I chose it for a reason.

Because skin is the foundation of everything we do.

We’re not a “Botox place.”
We’re not just fillers, lips, or chasing lines.

We are SKIN.

The health of your skin.
The quality of your skin.
Its texture, tone, strength, collagen, clarity and resilience.

Because you can soften a wrinkle with a neuromodulator. You can restore lost volume with filler. But beautiful, healthy skin cannot be injected into existence.

Ok hear me out-

Sometimes your goals cannot be achieved with filler or tox.

Sometimes a laser treatment is your best option.

My goal as an aesthetic provider is to guide you on a skin health journey.

One of the most important parts of aesthetic medicine is knowing what is actually causing the concern you see in the mirror.

Because wrinkles, crepey skin, enlarged pores, sun damage and loss of firmness are not always problems that should be treated by adding volume.

đź’‰ Filler replaces volume.
It can restore areas where we’ve lost fat, bone support and structural contour with age.

đź’‰ Botox/Dysport relaxes muscle movement.
It works beautifully for dynamic lines caused by repeated facial expression—think forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet.

⚡️ But lasers treat the SKIN itself.

When the problem is:
• fine lines and etched-in wrinkles
• crepey or thinning skin
• rough texture
• enlarged pores
• acne scarring
• sun damage and pigmentation
• uneven tone
• loss of collagen and elasticity

…adding more filler may not address the actual problem.

Sometimes what your face needs isn’t more volume—it needs better skin.

Laser resurfacing creates controlled injury within the skin, triggering a wound-healing response and stimulating remodeling of collagen and elastin. MOXI + BBL: Let’s talk about MENDS.

One of the most common questions after a MOXI treatment is:

“Why does my skin feel like sandpaper?”

The answer is MENDS — Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris. 🔬

MOXI is a 1927 nm non-ablative fractional laser. Its primary chromophore is water, and it delivers controlled thermal energy into thousands of microscopic treatment zones while leaving surrounding tissue intact to support rapid healing.

Within those microscopic zones, thermal injury creates tiny columns of damaged epidermal tissue containing cellular debris and pigment.

These are MENDS.

Over the next several days, the skin’s natural renewal process moves this microscopic debris upward through the epidermis until it reaches the surface and naturally sheds.

That’s why your skin may look slightly bronzed or peppered with tiny dark dots and feel:

• Dry
• Tight
• Rough
• Gritty
• Almost like fine-grit sandpaper

This texture is expected after MOXI and is part of the fractional healing process.

Do not scrub, pick or aggressively exfoliate your MENDS. Allow them to naturally slough away as your epidermis renews underneath.

Where does BBL fit in?
