Unpopular opinion: If MSC Yacht Club costs 2.5X Aurea, a list of perks is the wrong way to decide if it’s worth it.

Yes, Yacht Club includes more.

But knowing there are private spaces, dedicated dining and additional service still doesn’t answer the real question:

Are those differences worth what you’re being asked to pay?

There are situations where I would absolutely pay more for Yacht Club.

There are also situations where I wouldn’t.

That’s why I don’t think “Yacht Club is always worth it” is a very useful answer.

If Yacht Club were 2.5X the price of Aurea, are you paying it or keeping the money?

MSC Yacht Club may be worth the higher price, but one detail can change the answer: your itinerary.

Will you have enough time onboard to enjoy what you are paying extra for, or will you be off the ship most days?

Would the number of sea days affect your decision to book Yacht Club?

Hot take: The room price doesn’t tell you what the vacation actually costs.

A cruise fare usually include your room, meals, entertainment, transportation between destinations, and plenty to do onboard.

That’s why I always look at the whole vacation when comparing options.

Norwegian recently announced a change in how it plans to price cruises, with more competitive pricing earlier instead of holding fares high and then making steep cuts closer to sailing.

I actually think that makes more sense.

If someone commits early, puts down a deposit and gives up some flexibility, should the person who waits until the last minute automatically get the better deal?

On the other hand, I know plenty of cruisers who LOVE the gamble of waiting for those last-minute prices.

Which side are you on?

Book early and lock it in?

Or wait and see if the cruise line blinks?
