A significant surge of monsoon moisture is expected to bring widespread rain and thunderstorms across New Mexico Tuesday, September 22, 2026, through Thursday, September 24, 2026, with rain chances continuing into Friday, September 25, 2026.

The National Weather Service is forecasting multiple rounds of heavy rainfall, with some stronger storms capable of producing rainfall rates exceeding 2 inches per hour. Several inches of rain are possible across portions of the state through the middle of the week.

⚠️ Flash flooding will be a concern, particularly around:
• Recent wildfire burn scars
• Rivers, creeks and tributaries
• Arroyos and low-water crossings
• Low-lying and poor-drainage areas
• Areas where the ground becomes saturated from repeated rainfall

With several days of rain possible, flooding concerns may increase as the week continues.

🌧️ Please stay weather aware throughout the week. Monitor official forecasts and alerts, avoid flooded roadways, and be prepared to take action if a Flash Flood Warning is issued.

Stay safe, Lincoln County!

PROST! Oktoberfest is coming to Ruidoso! 🥨

Did you know Oktoberfest started more than 200 years ago with a royal wedding?

The first Oktoberfest was held in Munich in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese. The celebration included several days of festivities and ended with a horse race. It was such a success that the tradition continued, eventually growing into the world-famous festival celebrated today.

This September, you can enjoy a little Oktoberfest tradition right here in the mountains! 🍂

⚠️ FLASH FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH 6:30 PM TONIGHT, SEPTEMBER 17, 2026.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for parts of Lincoln County. Heavy rainfall may cause extensive flash flooding of creeks, streams, and ditches, along with debris flows across roads.

Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and into the overnight hours, bringing the potential for continued heavy rainfall and flash flooding across Lincoln County. Rainfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour are possible with stronger storms.

Areas with saturated ground, wildfire burn scars, low-lying areas, and flood-prone locations may be especially vulnerable to rapid runoff.

🚨 Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or are under an evacuation order.

If you encounter flood waters, move to higher ground. Keep children and pets away from drainage channels, and never attempt to cross fast-moving water on foot or drive through flooded roadways.
