Todays stop in Icy Straight Point was a first for me! We went whale watching and had one whale in particular who decided to show off. To see a whale breach once is a miracle but to see it over and over again was such a treat. The seafood feast afterwards was just the icing on top.

Did you know that part of Alaska was occupied by Japan during WWII? We took a special moment to pull off the road to honor not only the indigenous unit that fought for the US but to honor all of those that have served. Our driver John, an Air Force vet played Taps to end our time there. With Denali in the background and the only sound being that trumpet, it was truly a special moment.

Next, we headed to look at the beautiful Talkeetna Lodge where NCL puts guests on their Denali Explorer land tours. The town itself was quirky amd charming. Who doesn't like bunny therapy?

The evening ended with a train ride onboard the Wilderness Express to Anchorage where I had the best meal so far in their dining car.

So far, planes, buses, trains....where will the road, tracks or river lead us today?
