Looking for coastal wildlife without the crowds? 🦦🪿

Tucked between Morro Bay and Montana de Oro, Visit Los Osos Baywood is a dream for animal lovers and slow travelers alike. Walk the Elfin Forest boardwalk and you might spot great egrets, osprey, or even a mischievous sea otter in the bay.

Birders, bring your binoculars, this is one of the best places on the Central Coast for year-round birdwatching. And if you time it right, you might even see migrating monarch butterflies fluttering through Sweet Springs Preserve.

Lace up your hiking shoes-light station season is back!

The gates are open for a few special days this summer at the Piedras Blancas Light Station, and you’re invited to hike in and explore. 🌊⛅️

🗓️ 2025 Hike-In Dates:

• August 13
• August 27

🕙 10AM – 2PM

Take in incredible views and coastal breezes on an easy walk to this historic landmark, where docents will be on hand to share stories and insights about the light station’s past, its native wildlife, and ongoing restoration work. Pack a picnic, bring your curiosity, and enjoy this rare opportunity to roam the grounds freely.
