Slather on that sunscreen and stay extra hydrated, friends - Cayucos is turning up the heat this weekend! 🌊 A Heat Advisory is officially in effect through Saturday night. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect beach days, this is your sign to pack your bags and head to the Central Coast.
🌞 Check out the Cayucos forecast over the next few days:
• Friday: Sunshine and breezy conditions with temperatures peaking near a toasty 90 degrees. Perfect for catching a balmy sunset by the Cayucos Pier 🤙🏼
• Saturday: The heatwave continues 🌞 Expect blue skies, plenty of sunshine and highs staying well above our usual October averages.
• Sunday: Temps will begin to cool down slightly into the high 70s—making it the ultimate afternoon for a day of leisurely treasure hunting at the popular Cayucos Fall Antique Street Faire. Explore the wares of more than 110 vendors lining N. Ocean Avenue, just a block up from the beach.

A cooling trend (and even a few potential showers) are on the horizon by Tuesday. Soak up this unexpected summer bonus while it lasts! 🍦

Calling all coastal treasure hunters! 📣
The Cayucos Fall Antique Street Faire is back this Sunday, October 18, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM in downtown Cayucos.
Stroll just steps from the Pacific Ocean as you explore over 100 dealer and food vendor booths featuring antiques, vintage furniture & home décor, art, apparel, plants, toys, tools and many other unique finds.
📍 Details:
• Where: Ocean Ave. (between E Street and Cayucos Drive) and some booths on Front Street.
• Cost: Free admission & free parking
• Drive time: Just 20 minutes north of San Luis Obispo
• Bonus: Leashed dogs are welcome!

Don’t forget to shop the amazing antique stores lining N. Ocean Avenue. Considering shopping may work up an appetite, Cayucos has you covered: Visit any one of our cafes or restaurants that are all owned and independently operated by locals.

🌊 Central Coast beaches are shrinking this weekend! 🌊
An unusually high tide baseline—powered by an El Niño Kelvin wave and exceptionally warm seawater—is pushing peak high tides more than a foot higher than predicted.
Expect minor tidal overflow flooding and strong rip currents. This is especially critical during the Sunday morning high tide peaking at 10:45 AM.
If you’re heading out for a beach walk, please follow these safety steps:
• 📉 Check tide times before stepping onto the sand.
• 🌊 Give the waves plenty of room and never turn your back on the ocean.
⚠️ An Important Note on Local Wildlife:
We are continuing to receive questions about deceased birds, mostly Common murres, along the shoreline. This phenomenon is directly connected to these higher seawater temperatures.
Warm water is driving baitfish much deeper into cooler depths. Because Common murres live on the open sea and rely on these fish, they cannot reach their food source and are starving.
🐦 How you can help:
If you spot a black-and-white Murre alive on the beach, please do not touch it. Instead, contact Pacific Wildlife Care. This Morro Bay wildlife rescue has been working tirelessly, treating hundreds of these sick birds over recent weeks.💙

Have you ever wondered about the curious vintage building that greets you entering Cayucos from north coastal Highway 1?

🌊 Sitting on a prominent hillside overlooking the Cayucos Pier and a distant Morro Rock is the historic Borradori Garage. Originally built in 1932 along the Roosevelt Highway, the automobile repair garage was named the Roosevelt Garage.
In 1959, when the state of California realigned Highway 1, it purchased the property and the garage. However, Sam Borradori immediately bought the building back, moving the structure slightly to its present location at 455 N. Ocean Blvd.
🌊 In 1995, the garage passed to the Dante Borradori family. Dan (Sam’s nephew) and his wife, Sharon Borradori, hired Cayucos contractor and Cayucos Cellars winery owner Stuart Selkirk to restore, repaint and provide maintenance.
The garage was a modern-day blacksmith shop until it was retired in 1985. Other than some additions, it is the original garage.

🌊 The Borradori family allows limited use for nonprofit benefit events as well as membership events for Cayucos Cellars, the winery owned by the Selkirks.

👏Cayucos Pier will be extended to its former length after strong winter storms wiped out the end of the pier in 2024, shortening the historic landmark by 15 feet.

👏 The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted on Tuesday to approve the restoration project, estimated to cost around $1.2 million to repair the iconic pier to its original length of 950 feet 👏
