Now on “Sail”: Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries!

Have you been thinking about booking a Disney Cruise Line vacation? Now is the best time to lock in a reservation! Not only will you have plenty of time to plan for and make payments to your trip, Disney Cruise Line prices are the lowest when they are first released. My family and I have loved taking Disney cruises over the last several years; it’s become our Spring Break tradition, and we already have a deposit placed for 2028! If you were interested in more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out for a quote!

I think I may have a new favorite Universal theme park! Epic Universe was…EPIC! I loved all the details in each of the lands, and it’s hard to pick which was my favorite! The top highlights were Ministry of Magic, Stardust Racers, Mine-Cart Madness, and Hiccup’s Wing Gliders (they let us ride twice!). I was worried that Monsters Unchained would make me feel sick since it’s the same ride track as Forbidden Journey at Islands of Adventure, but the animatronics vs screens made a huge difference. I thought this park was so fun, and I’m looking forward to bringing my family next time. 😊

Universal Kids Resort Recap 2 of 2

We spent about 6.5 hours in the park on Saturday! The biggest thing to remember is that Universal Kids Resort is exactly what its name says, a resort built for kids.

Instead of spending all day standing in lines, there are playgrounds, splash pads, and interactive areas where kids can actually play. On a hot Texas day, the water attractions (especially Bobbing Barrels) are a huge hit! *Tip: Be sure to wear clothes that will easily dry. If splash pads are a priority, bring a swimsuit to change into!

Even though it's geared toward younger guests, my 10 and 12 year olds still found plenty to enjoy. Their favorites included:

🚢 Bello Bay Cruise
🦖 Jurassic World Cretaceous Coaster
🎵 TrollsFest Coaster
🌊 Swings Over Del Mar
🚌 Barnacle Bus
🧬 Mr. DNA's Double Helix Spin

We were pleasantly surprised by the food prices; we found them to be very reasonable. We couldn't resist trying some of the fun specialty items like the Shretzel, dinosaur chicken nuggets, the mac & cheese cone, and Goofy Goober's ice cream.

We also saw plenty of characters throughout the park including SpongeBob, Squidward, Minions, Poppy, Gabby, and even a baby dinosaur.

Lastly, we opted for the photo package which was $35 for all picture downloads from the day as well as the refillable souvenir cup for $20. We felt those prices were very reasonable too!

Of course, it's still a brand-new park, so there are a few areas we noticed that could be improved over time.

*There was not an app, so we went old school and used a paper map. Mobile ordering and checking wait times, show schedules, and character interactions on your phone was not available.
*There was not an Express Pass line, only a guided VIP experience.
*We felt that some ride boarding and food ordering could be more efficient.

None of those were deal breakers for us, though. As the park continues to grow, I expect many of these processes will improve.

⭐ Final Verdict: We had a great time and will definitely be back!

If you're wondering whether your kids are "too old," I'd say it really depends on what they enjoy. If they still love immersive play, meeting characters, and a mix of family rides and splash areas, Universal Kids Resort is absolutely worth considering.

Have questions about planning a visit? I'd love to help!

Universal Kids Resort Recap 1 of 2

We decided 10 days in advance to book a last-minute weekend staycation to Universal Kids Resort in Frisco. I'll admit, I wasn't sure if my girls (ages 12 and 10) would be too old for it. I'd also heard mixed reviews, so we went in with realistic expectations. I'm so glad we decided to go because we ended up having a really fun weekend!

We stayed one night at the hotel in a Standard Queen Theme Park View room (because if I'm staying 10 minutes from home, I definitely don't want a parking lot view 😂). The bunk beds are always a hit with the kids, and I loved how colorful and cheerful the entire hotel felt.

After checking in around 5 pm, we had dinner onsite at Curiosity Cafe. We ordered pizza, pasta, and chicken nuggets, and honestly, the prices were much more reasonable than we expected. After dinner, we spent some time in the arcade before ending the evening at the pool (open until 10 pm).

The next morning, I grabbed coffee and waffles at the Curiosity Cafe before heading to the park. One of my favorite perks was early park admission for hotel guests. We entered at 9 am (a full hour before general admission guests) giving us a head start in SpongeBob's Bikini Bottom area and on the Minion's Bello Bay Cruise.

Stay tuned for my full park review tomorrow!

This cruise was really special for our girls because it was the first time we let them roam freely outside of the kids club with their friends. We brought their Apple Watches and asked them to text us as they explored the ship. They met characters, went to the shows, and ate lunch with their cruise friends. Disney Cruises are one of those special places where we felt comfortable giving them some independence in a controlled environment. There aren't many places we would feel comfortable doing that, and this is a main reason why we are in our Disney Cruise season of life right now - plus exploring new places together! ❤️

One of the most unique experiences on this cruise was the Cruella de Vil Treblemaking show at de Vil's Piano Lounge. It is for guests 18+, and we (the audience) made up a song for Cruella. It was fun and made us laugh! Seats are very limited. We went the first night and arrived about 30 minutes before it started, so plan accordingly!

We loved sailing on the Disney Destiny, one of Disney Cruise Line's newest ships! It is part of the Wish class of ships, similar to the Wish and Treasure. The Destiny's theme was heroes and villains.

We sailed on a unique 7-night itinerary in the Eastern Caribbean to Disney's newest private island Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, San Juan Puerto Rico, and St. Maartan. New ship, new stops, and new experiences sounded like a perfect combination for us!
