As much as I love this new skiff, the journey it took me through and the process behind the build is just as incredible. Getting to look behind the scenes over at the Delta factory and realize it’s just a small group of people that care as much as building these boats as I do about showing my clients a good time on them, is truly something I don’t think you see anywhere else. The care and detail that these people put into each and every boat is unmatched no doubt. It was like being invited to someone’s family dinner. Talking with them, joking, asking questions, hearing about their personal lives, it’s so much more than just the boats. It’s an experience that I wouldn’t have guessed. One that more people should see. When you purchase a boat from , these are the people that are a part of that process. These people are the reason you’ll enjoy that boat. The reason for the core memories you’ll make on it. Give em a call. You won’t be disappointed…

Just wanted to thank everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday. No other way I’d liked to have spent it than fishing in the pond and water table with Maverick, “sharing” Chipotle with Way, parking lot picnic with the whole family for mommy’s lunch and then watching Maverick enjoy his T-Ball game. Appreciate all the messages and calls a bunch!

I thought I already knew the mother you’d be long before our first one. Over all the years we’ve been together, I knew being a mom wouldn’t be that much of a transition for you. Little did I know just how much you would overreach even my expectations. The way you can calm them down without a fight. The way you know what clothes they want before they ask. The way you just figure it out no matter the problem. Things that take me far too long to figure out with them, you already know. It’s been amazing watching you throughout this journey and it’s made me realize that you’re even more amazing than I ever thought you were before. Im convinced there’s no human on Earth that loves their kids as well as you do. You’re their everything and I love getting to witness it all. I hope you know just how much we appreciate everything you do too. We love you so much and Happy Mothers Day to the best to ever do it…

Let’s just say this will be a multi-part post. Maybe that goes on forever, but we’ll start with the beginning.
Years ago, this guy from South Carolina shows up to Venice with a wild idea and garage built boat and says he’s going to take this boat he just built in a garage and fish his way across this state and camping out on some of our barrier islands. Pretty insane idea. I loved it. Loved the series he produced on Vimeo about it called “Xplor”. Vimeo was basically like YouTube without the copyrights for you youngsters out there. Couple years later, I run into him at the same place in Venice. Check out some of his skiffs and got to talk to him a bit more. Loved that he was a fisherman and not just another salesman trying to sell boats any way possible. Well, long story short, a few years later, couple incredible fishing and hunting trips with him and his family down here and next thing you know, the opportunity to own one of his skiffs presents itself. If you read my last post, you should know how nerve racking this was for me. But, I was trusting in his knowledge of boat building as well as fishing in skiffs himself to take the leap. Man how it’s far exceeded all my expectations. Not just the skiff, the build process, the builders, the office staff, everything. From putting me and my family up at one of the prettiest places we’ve gotten to see on the east coast to working overtime on the skiff to get it done to get me back home and running trips with my clients. To say this whole process exceeded my expectations still wouldn’t do it justice. It’ll be hard to thank everyone and talk about each and everything thing about this incredible process, but hopefully, through a few post, I can give you an insight and maybe help someone else out there make the same awesome decision I did…

Only close to a year late, but figured I’d finally get around to making a post about ending a boat owning chapter of my life.
People say the happiest days of owning a boat is the day you buy and the day you sell it. Well I wouldn’t say this “people” had the experiences in this thing that I did. It was a rough day for me for sure. Closing one chapter and starting a new one. This thing had been with me through so dam much. From my first redfishing trips to proposing to my beautiful wife in it and taking each of my kids and dog for their first boat rides, first fish, just so many first. So many beach days. So many incredible days on the water with the best friends in my life. So many muddy days and ducks. There’s more than just sweetwater in that gel coat. Hundreds of thousands of hours on the water doing anything and everything the Gulf Coast has to offer. Getting parking tickets for it at Nicholls, backed in with precision in a few tight spaces in the different places we’ve lived. Used as an extra fuel tank for hurricanes. Hell it’s even been in plenty of redfish tournaments as well as a Bassmaster Tournament. The list almost never ends. That day last year was a rough one for me, but a good one. Couldn’t have asked for a better person for it to go to than Charles. From one generation to the next. Maybe even to make many of the same memories over again and hopefully many more decades to come. As nervous as I was about it, little did I know how much more the next chapter of skiff would bring. Stay tuned for more on that…

Earth day episode of “Treasure or Trash” with Maverick from one of the many Lake Pontchartrain beach days last summer. Pretty cool that this has become one of his favorite things to do besides fish. Sometimes we find some really cool stuff. But unfortunately, more often than not, we find so much trash. May not do much to tip the scales, but it makes our quiet little beach better and more safe for the next crew that finds it…

8 years married to the most beautiful mom of the best boys and pup on planet Earth. No place I’d rather be than right here, right now. 80 more would be fine with me….

No matter the weather, Luke always makes it happen. Glad to get him and his son Ellis on a couple of good ones and can’t wait to have them back again. Think the father son competition has just begun. As soon as Ellis learns the clock, you may be in trouble Luke…
