*Meet Rolando “Jungle Boy”* 🌿💪

If you’ve been on an adventure with *Activexpedition* in the Amazon, chances are you already know this legend.

Rolando is our local guide who makes the wild feel like home. Always at the front of the group when we’re canyoning, always checking every step when we’re trekking, always there making sure the river respects us and we respect it. Safety first, smiles second - that’s his rule.

His jungle knowledge hits different. Son of a shaman from the Llanganates National Park, he grew up reading the forest. Plants, animals, weather, stories… he shares it all, and somehow makes every tough hike feel like the best day ever. Super fun, super wise, super Jungle Boy.

To us, he’s family. To our travelers, he’s the reason they felt safe enough to go deeper.

Smiles in Bameno, 3 years in the making 🦷🌿

It started with a simple idea: kids in Bameno shouldn’t have to live with dental pain. So we partnered directly with the Waorani community to bring consistent dental care to 35+ kids. Not a one-time brigade - real follow-up, prevention, and trust built over years.

Today we’re still here, still showing up, because the community asked us to stay. As one of the Waorani leaders told us: “The community is very happy and thanks Activexpedition and Salud y Sonrisas Waorani for creating with this amazing project.”

We couldn’t do it without people who believe in this work and support us to keep it going. If you want to help us keep bringing care and smiles to the kids of Bameno, reach out. Every bit keeps the project alive.

Behind every epic descent and flawless journey, there are hours of meticulous preparation. Today, straight from our main workshop, we want to introduce you to Javier, our equipment and operations specialist. 🛠️

3 years of care in Bameno, Waorani Territory 🦷🌿

This month we returned to Bameno with .y.sonrisas.waorani and to continue a project that’s close to our heart: bringing dental and health care to 35 kids in the community.

This isn’t a one-off visit. For 3 years we’ve been working alongside the Waorani community, with local leaders guiding the way. Our dentists provide treatment, follow-ups, and prevention so the kids can grow up without pain and with confidence in their smiles.

The impact goes beyond teeth. It’s about respect, trust, and showing up consistently. As one of the Waorani leaders shared with us: “The community is very happy and thanks Active Expedition and Salud y Sonrisas Waorani for visiting with this amazing project.”

Responsible travel means being useful where you go. We’re proud to support a project led by and for the Waorani people.

Bameno, Waorani Territory: Ecotourism protects. Mining destroys. 🌿

A few days ago we were in Bameno with and .y.sonrisas.waorani

What you see here is simple: when tourism is community-led and respectful, it protects the forest and strengthens the people who have cared for it for generations. You walk with Waorani guides, hear the jungle, and understand why this territory is worth more alive than exploited.

Mining is the opposite. It leaves contamination, divides communities, and takes what it can’t give back.

That’s why we’ve been running a dental health project for 35 kids in Bameno for 3 years now. This isn’t a one-day event. It’s consistent work that’s already showing real results: kids without pain, with follow-up and prevention. All done hand-in-hand with the community and supported by the responsible tourism that comes here.

Thanks to Penti, Waorani leader, for the talk and for reminding us that the future of the Amazon is decided by the people who live in it.

Ecotourism isn’t a slogan. It’s a way of being in the territory without breaking it.
