These trips are a great way to get used to climbing outside…though it’s easy to spend more time practicing headstands on the crashpads than actually bouldering 😅

We Are Carolina Adventures.

A program within UNC Campus Recreation, Carolina Adventures includes 3 different program areas: the Challenge Course at the Outdoor Education Center (OEC), Expeditions and Climbing. We provide the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive challenge course complete with high and low course elements and a 1,200-foot zip line to UNC organizations, local school groups, youth groups, religious organizations, sports teams, and businesses. The Carolina Outdoor Education Center includes the Expeditions program which takes students on backpacking, kayaking and climbing trips year-round to allow students to learn while doing. Carolina Adventures also includes the indoor climbing walls at the various sport facilities. Our two climbing walls (Rams Head and Fetzer) offer around 5,000 square feet of climbing as well as a bouldering wall and cave. With highly trained climbing staff, the walls are safe and easy to access, even for those who have never climbed before.
