Looking back at a fam trip through Milan and Piedmont, where travel advisors experience hotels, w**eries, and destinations firsthand, and some of my favorite memories were around the table and in the w**eries. 🇮🇹🍷

Two standouts were Ceretto, known for Barolo and Barbaresco, and Castello di Neive, especially known for Barbaresco.

Great w**e, incredible food, beautiful cities, and a pace that makes you want to slow down and enjoy where you are. That is what I love about Northern Italy.

Some of the world’s most popular places are completely different once the crowds thin out. ✨

Overtourism is real. But the answer is not always to stop visiting the places we love.

Sometimes it comes down to how the trip is designed.

Stay instead of day tripping. Spend four nights instead of racing through in two. Go in October instead of July. Get out early, linger into the evening, and leave enough room in the itinerary to wander beyond the places everyone came to photograph.

Kyoto is a perfect example. The same streets that can feel impossibly busy during the day can become quiet, atmospheric and almost entirely different at another hour.

The same is true in Tuscany beyond Florence, Croatia beyond Dubrovnik, Burgundy, Malta, the Balkans and so many other places worth experiencing more thoughtfully.

For travelers who have already seen a lot of the world, sometimes the next great trip is not about finding somewhere new.

It is about experiencing somewhere familiar much better. ❤️
