You have to check out the last photo! A dolphin jumped out of the water right in front of us - so cool!

That quickly became the highlight of the trip today with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston crew. We had a great day on the water and loved seeing the smiles and laughter.

July in Charleston = boat rides, salty breezes, and mandatory stops at Red's Ice House for creekside lunch.

“Zay” from Beyond BASIC had us all laughing and kept the jokes flowing better than the tide.

Mac was born with a complex congenital heart defect. His original diagnosis was that he would need one open heart surgery, but, after birth, it was decided that the best plan was a 3 surgery plan that would make him a single ventricular patient. This means that Mac’s heart is a single pump, not a double like most people. These surgeries were done at 5 weeks, 6 months, and 2 1/2 years old.

Mac visits MUSC each year to monitor his heart function and the effects of this surgical set up on the rest of his organs. Mac’s journey with CHD has been a long road with lots of challenges, but they are thankful for his scars. They remind us of the healing God did through the doctors at MUSC Children’s Health. Mac loves manatees and hopes to be a marine biologist when he grows up.

“Lily was diagnosed in utero with Pulmonary Atresia which resulted in Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome (HRHS). She was born at MUSC and at 2-1/2 months underwent open heart surgery to attempt a shunt. She coded after surgery and was placed on ECMO for 47 days while awaiting a heart transplant.

She received her gift of life and has since been cared for by the amazing transplant team at MUSC Children’s Health. During her first few years of life she overcame many challenges including multiple heart caths, hospitalizations, seizures, and meningitis.

Thankfully, our family has been blessed and she has been doing great for the past 7 years.” 👍💪

No better place to be than on the water for these hot, humid Summer days ☀️🌊🚤

Thanks to Camp Rise Above for organizing this trip for this wonderful family. Mom, Dad, and Grandpa were able to join Rachael for her boat cruise - we had a perfect day checking out the Harbor.

Lots of laughs and smiles were had and we love blessing these families with a fun day on the water 🙌

Our first annual wheelchair trip was a huge success and so much fun! What an amazing trip today with our friends from Pattison's Academy!

After a nasty, quick storm and nearly cancelling the trip, the skies cleared, the winds dropped down to nothing, and the water was glass for ten families to experience a fun day on the water!

Special thanks to St Johns Kayaks & Boat Tours for allowing us to use their vessel. We couldn’t have done the trip without y’all.

Shout out to St. John's Fire District for taking their boat out and flowing water for the children and families. They were so impressed and loved seeing the boat in action.

After years of battling heart conditions and being in the hospital more than out, Jackson is strong, healthy, and headed home after positive scans this week! 🙌💪

His favorite part of the trip was seeing MUSC Children’s Hospital from the water ❤️

Jackson’s nurse, who cared for him for years, was able to join us on the trip - how cool is that!
