What a powerful weekend in Charleston! The 2026 South Carolina African-American Tourism Conference brought together entrepreneurs, historians, cultural leaders, and community advocates to explore how preserving our stories can create economic opportunity and build Black wealth.

From storytelling and cultural tours to conversations about funding, digital tools, and entrepreneurship, we shared ideas and made connections to move this work forward.

We also celebrated Cecil Williams, recipient of the Denmark Vesey Tourism Pioneer Award, and Rep. Wendell Gilliard, recipient of the Phillip Simmons Tourism Advocate Award.

Thank you to our speakers, sponsors, volunteers, attendees, and our platinum partner, the College of Charleston, for helping make this gathering possible!
