Thinking about my uncle, Hollis Preston, today, whom I never met because he was a WWII bomber pilot, who kept his plane in the air long enough for all of his crew to safely bail out. By the time he made sure the crew was out, the plane was too low for him to make a successful jump. With one engine, he managed to keep the plane in the air long enough to get out of Germany.
