Sea turtle nesting season begins today on Folly Beach. 🐢
Each year, loggerhead sea turtles return to this stretch of coastline to lay their eggs, continuing a natural cycle that has existed along the Atlantic for generations.
From May through October, our shoreline becomes part of an important habitat for these remarkable animals and their hatchlings.
Protecting them starts with one simple tradition here on Folly.
Lights Out on the beach after sunset.
Keeping the shoreline dark helps ensure hatchlings can find their way to the ocean, guided by the natural light of the moon over the Atlantic.
Thank you to everyone in our community who helps protect this special part of Folly’s coastal wildlife.
