South Carolina’s first designated Trail Town set the bar high — and Conway’s Riverwalk is one of the best examples of why 🌿✨

Stretching along the scenic Waccamaw River, the Conway Riverwalk offers a front-row seat to one of South Carolina’s most unique blackwater ecosystems. Lined with towering oaks, cypress trees, and Spanish moss, this riverfront space blends outdoor recreation, wildlife, history, and downtown charm all in one experience 👣🌎

The Riverwalk connects visitors to parks, paddle access points, nature trails, public gathering spaces, and Conway’s historic downtown — making it easy to spend an entire day exploring. You can kayak the Waccamaw River Blue Trail, spot turtles and wading birds along the water, catch sunset over the river, grab coffee or lunch downtown, and experience a slower side of coastal South Carolina 🌾🛶

What makes Conway so special is how connected the community is to the outdoors. Here, the river isn’t just scenery — it’s part of everyday life 💚

One of South Carolina’s most unexpected hidden gems is growing right in the middle of Lake City 🌿✨

Moore Farms Botanical Garden is a 65-acre private garden that feels like stepping into another world — filled with winding paths, native plants, reflection spaces, wetlands, historic garden design, and landscapes intentionally created to connect people with nature.

But what makes this place especially fascinating is the story behind it. Originally part of a working family farm, the property has been transformed over generations into a nationally recognized botanical garden dedicated to conservation, horticulture, and environmental education 🌱

Fun facts :
🌿 The gardens are home to thousands of plant species and intentionally designed ecosystems that support pollinators, birds, and native wildlife
🎨 Art and sculpture are woven throughout the landscape, blending creativity with nature
💧 The garden’s wetlands and water features help showcase the importance of South Carolina’s natural ecosystems
🌎 Moore Farms Botanical Garden is nationally recognized for sustainable garden practices and conservation efforts

And somehow, all of this exists in Lake City — a small South Carolina town that has quietly become one of the state’s coolest destinations for art, nature, and community ✨

It’s places like this that remind us some of South Carolina’s most meaningful outdoor experiences happen far beyond the major tourist stops 💚

Held at the stunning Swan Lake Iris Gardens, this long-running festival brings together blooming irises, live music, local food, art vendors, family activities, and one of the most beautiful outdoor settings in the Southeast 👣🌿

Fun fact: Swan Lake Iris Gardens is the only public park in the United States home to all eight species of swans, along with thousands of blooming Japanese irises each spring.
