Don’t sleep on your Walt Disney World resort!

When you’re planning your vacation, it’s easy to focus on park days, but your resort has so much to offer, too. Whether you’re looking for a rainy day activity or just want a break from the pool, there’s usually something fun happening throughout the day!

Be sure to ask a Cast Member about the daily activity schedule when you check in. It’s often posted in the lobby or near the elevators, and many resorts have a QR code you can scan to view it anytime.

Some of my favorite FREE activities include:
🎬 Movies Under the Stars
🕺 Silent discos
🧠 Nighttime trivia
💃 Dance parties
👋 Character greetings
🧘 Yoga
🏓 Pickleball clinics
🔥 Evening campfires (s’mores kits are available for a nominal fee!)

If your family plans to enjoy the campfire more than once during your trip, consider adding marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate, and roasting sticks to your grocery delivery. It can be a fun and budget friendly way to enjoy multiple campfire nights!

You’ll also find fun paid experiences like Mickey tie-dye shirts, mosaic art, slime making, and other crafts.

On our recent Fourth of July resort day at Disney’s Contemporary, my family tried the Mickey tie-dye activity, and it was such a fun experience! The shirts were about $18 each, and the Cast Members were amazing. They helped my kids while I got to create my own design. They even wrapped everything up with gloves, instructions, and bags so we could finish the process at home. Watching everyone’s shirts turn out was half the fun! ❤️💛🖤

Every Disney resort offers a different lineup of activities. Some are weather dependent, so before your trip, check your resort’s website under the Amenities tab to see what’s currently being offered.

Disney has released a first look at The Wetlands, the main recreation area coming to Disney Lakeshore Lodge, opening at Walt Disney World in Summer 2027!

Highlights include:
- Pocahontas-inspired play areas for kids, including Heron Shores and Otter Springs
- Daydream River, a relaxing lazy river experience
- Lakeside Lagoon, a zero-entry feature pool with a waterslide
- Perspective Pond, a leisure pool and whirlpool spa with views of Magic Kingdom fireworks

Located on Bay Lake and just a boat ride from Magic Kingdom, Disney Lakeshore Lodge is shaping up to be a beautiful blend of nature, recreation, and Disney magic. I’m excited to see what details Disney shares next!

I’ve been holding this in for too long: this drink is the best thing to come out of Star Wars 🫣

To be fair, I have a bit of a coffee addiction and I have only watched Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. I promise to change that before next May!

Anyway, back to the coffee... The Cold Brew Black Caf at Docking Bay 7 in Disneyland is what dream are made of. It is also offered at Kat Saka’s Kettle in Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but it’s just not as perfect.

Smoother, better balance, and somehow it just hits different on the West Coast. If you know, you know… and if you don’t, it’s time to plan a Disneyland trip 👀

Planning a Magic Kingdom day between August–October? Make sure you check the schedule for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!

On party days, a separate ticket is required and regular day guests must leave by 6PM… which means no Happily Ever After fireworks and no nighttime parade 👀

Only have ONE Magic Kingdom day? You’ll definitely want to avoid party days so you don’t miss the magic after dark.

But if you have TWO days planned at Magic Kingdom? A party day could actually work in your favor because there’s potential for lower crowds and shorter standby lines for a more relaxed day.

The right strategy can make a big difference!

Getting around Walt Disney World can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be!

Stay at a monorail resort like Disney’s Contemporary Resort and everything suddenly gets so much easier. Walk right over to Magic Kingdom, hop on the monorail to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, or catch a quick bus ride to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or Disney Springs.

The real magic? Being close enough to take a midday pool break without losing half your day! My favorite perk? Ending the night watching fireworks in your pajamas from your theme park view room!
