I'm no longer a virgin!!!!!
Last month a group of friends and I went on our first Virgin Voyage Cruise out of Barcelona via the Valiant Lady (all of their ships are named after women) and though I'm not a cruiser I gave this experience a 10 out of 10. I could only compare it to Royal Caribbean, which is still a great brand and Carnival, which is good depending on the ship you choose, however with Virgin Voyages it felt like a resort on water.
Here are my top 10 things about my experience in no particular order...
1. No children!! Ya'll know I love the kids, launched an entire week long camp, BUT sometimes you just need good grown folks spaces and Virgin Voyages is that - Adults only!!
2. Not overcrowded!! The maximum for most of the ships will be under 3000 sailors which may seem like a lot but it's not. By day 4 I was seeing some of the same faces as well as new so it's a good # of people to make new friends if you wish.
3. The entertainment and activities are great. I enjoyed the shows and the clubs were cool. We did yoga, meditation and Zumba and never felt crowded.
4. The boat just had a vibe. Very diverse, well known as the cruise line of choice for the LGBTQIA community and mature crowd. Everyone understood the assignment - It's vacation, stay cool, stay fresh and let's have a good time!!!
5. They will leave you!!! If you are not at port at time of departure, they will gladly go to your room, grab your essentials (passport and medication), and assign a support person to help you to the next destination on your expense. Don't ask me how I know, ask Yazh Mïn. 🤣
6. Luxury is what I felt from the moment I got on the boat. The ship is so huge you can literally find a new spot daily to chill, nap, hide, cupcake....whatever. The design of the ship was carefully thought out. Honestly the only thing I so wish is for the pool to have been a little bigger. There's literally one small pool that could maybe fit about 15 ppl, but several hot tubs!!
7. Theme nights are cool and you'll see about everything. They dont have the formal nights like some cruises but they do encourage participation on pajama night and scarlet night but hey you grown, do you boo!!
8. The FOOD!! First off, there's NO BUFFET!! Everything is a la carte and some of THE best food I've had for a cruise or hotel. You have 7 dining options, including the galley that's more like a huge food hall. Sodas and juices are included and if you do drink, everyone doesn't have to get a drink package. I do encourage you to get it early to save a few dollars.
Getting back to the food, my favorite restaurants were the Wake and the Test Kitchen. Don't get me wrong, the test kitchen had some different stuff but baby, who knew a steak with a dark chocolate rew would be FIYAH!!!! Let me just say I ate so good everyday the scale was like oh you ate REAL good!!!
9. Virgin Voyages has several different trips you can take. We flew to Barcelona, stayed for a couple days, sailed to Mallorca, Rome, Cannes and Ibiza. It was during our trip to Ibiza I realized I am too old to be in a night club. Give me a day party any day!
10. We will be doing a Virgin Voyage Cruise in 2027 out of Puerto Rico and their Alaskan Cruise in 2028 if you would like to join us. If you want to do your own thing, consider me as your agent to book all your accommodations!!!
