Gary Wirth formed Wirth & Associates, Landscape Architects and Land Planners, after 16 years of professional practice in the Charlotte area. Stone Jr. and Associates (EDSA), where he served as vice president and project/office manager for their Charlotte office. Mr. Wirth has provided landscape architectural services nationally from Las Vegas, Nevada to Jacksonville, Florida and internationally fr

om Caracas, Venezuela to Paris, France. Our practice deals in a wide array of projects, ranging from design of single family subdivisions to low and high density multi-family housing, from mixed-use planned unit developments to resort master planning, from neighborhood shopping centers to regional malls and from corporate/office headquarters to urban plaza design. We have provided design services for single family products ranging from large and estate lots in association with resort and golf course developments to cluster, patio homes and mixed-use residential and retail/office products. At Wirth & Associates, Inc. recreation planning and implementation is an area of specialization for the firm. Our experience in parks and recreation projects is quite varied ranging from neighborhood park design to district and regional park planning to community-wide master parks and recreation plans. We have completed a wide variety of park projects that include master planning, wetlands permitting, design development, construction documentation and construction administration for over 75 parks and greenway projects.

The 5th graders at Sherrills Ford Elementary School in Catawba County, NC had a class project this year to design a park. Knowing that Wirth & Associates had completed master planning for the nearby 600 acre Mountain Creek Park, the school asked Gary Wirth to come and present what is a landscape architect and how does a landscape architect plan such a park. Mr. Wirth presented the design process to the class and then related it to how it was applied to the master plan for Mountain Creek Park.

The 5th graders then presented their park plans to their classmates and Mr. Wirth who provided encouraging comments on their designs. Perhaps there are a few future landscape architects in the group?? We hope so!
