So here goes, my first official Go Bug Post…..
I was fortunate to see a true Vermont snow storm, quiet, white and serene. I like to view it from inside, warm and cozy inside my 96 year old mom’s octagon house, or from my brothers comfy modern farmhouse. Morrisville is a ‘suburb’ of famous ski country, Stowe. Its the common person’s place to stay but still only 15 minutes from the quaint overpriced ski paradise of New England.
I didn’t ski this trip, too soon after my T-12 compression fracture in the Virgin Islands last summer. But my nephew did and said the slopes were great. This is the best time of year to ski New England, and staying in lodging in neighboring towns decreases your costs.
Yes, Burlington is the closest airport and a challenge to get to from North Georgia but can be done with patience. Its a great small airport and easy to drive to Stowe and surroundings in less than an hour.
Or you can fly to Montreal and spend a few nights in an unique cosmopolitan city. Only a 2 hour drive from Stowe/Morrisville area.
So how did I spend my time in this winter wonderland? Unforturnatly, my mom fell and fractured her hip the day I arrived. Not to worry, she is doing great post op and getting ready for rehab. What I can say, both the local hospital, Copley, and the large Univestity of Vermont Medical Center, are great institutions with wonderfull competent staff.
I am back home now, 70 degree weather here, I miss seeing the snow, but not the cold. I will keep you updated on mom and will be off to California the end of the month…
