Chattanooga, Tennessee has been designated North America's first National Park City. This recognition acknowledges the city's commitment to environmental stewardship and abundant green spaces. Chattanooga is the third city globally to achieve this designation, following London and Adelaide, Australia.

Key aspects of Chattanooga's National Park City designation:

Community-driven effort:

The designation is part of a community-driven effort to celebrate and protect Chattanooga's unique resources and culture.

Focus on nature and outdoor activities:

Chattanooga's location between the Cumberland Plateau and Appalachian Mountains, along with its access to rivers and greenways, has been a key factor in the designation.

Commitment to environmental stewardship:

The city has been actively working to protect its natural resources and create a greener, healthier urban environment.

Long-term vision:

The National Park City initiative aims to foster a long-term vision for a better life, integrating nature and urban living.

Marketing tool:

The National Park City designation is also being used as a marketing tool to attract tourists and highlight the city's unique assets.
