🚨 ANNOUNCEMENT🚨
Chautauqua is thrilled to announce that Morgan Freeman, renowned actor, producer, director, and narrator, will join us on Aug. 19 and 20 this season!
In a week considering “Past Informs Present: How to Harness History,” Freeman will join our morning lecture series on Aug. 19, discussing the rich history and heritage of Blues music in American culture — and the work being done to preserve and celebrate that legacy.
Later that evening, Freeman returns to the stage to introduce Symphonic Blues, conducted by Martin Gellner, with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra in the Amphitheater. Narrated on video by Freeman, this live concert experience combines the soul-stirring roots of Mississippi Delta Blues with the richness of a symphony orchestra, taking audiences on a transformative journey through the music, culture, and legacy of the Mississippi Delta — the birthplace of the Blues.
Freeman will also participate in a master class alongside blues musicians on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
🎟 Tickets for the Aug. 19 lecture & performance go on sale Feb. 28
***Master class registration for Aug. 20 starts April 28 (Part of Special Studies registration)
