The bathroom at our cottage got an update!

This was unplanned due to some water damage this winter, but thankfully it wasn’t too bad or too costly.
•We replaced the flooring, the sink/countertop, toilet roll holder & shower head. All are the rubbed/oiled bronze color & matches the sink hardware & soap dispenser that we replaced a little while back.
•Instead of replacing, I spray painted the mirror-medicine cabinet insert (as well as the handles on the wooden vanity) a dark brown color inside & out. We’ll see how it holds up for now.
•Walls were patched & painted an off-white color & the trim is a new calm blue.
•The new shower curtain looks great & I think it sort of mirrors the mountain & tree landscape painting in the bedroom.

The Cozy Cottage got another little facelift this past weekend with some gorgeous wood stain on the deck, porch & swings. We had perfect weather for staining & love the uniformity of color.

Do you have kids, but want a break from them?
Do you not have kids & don’t want to hang out with them?
Do you not like kids?

If the answer is “yes” to any of these questions, you need to head to Roo Mountain Vineyards in Ellijay while visiting The Cozy Cottage because this winery & their 7,000+ sq ft patio doesn’t allow ANY kids under 21. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed.
We stopped by for a brief visit on Saturday & there were probably 100 people here. They have an amazing view, a small menu, servers & a guy was playing classical guitar while we visited.

The husband & I snuck out for a nice meal early this evening at The Butcher & Bottle in downtown Ellijay. I ordered the grilled cauliflower as my main dish. (He got the pan friend trout. Also delicious, but that ain’t what we’re talking about tonight.) I love most vegetables but I am by no means a vegetarian. When I tell you this was one of the most fantastic meals I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying, believe that I am not exaggerating at all. We sat at the bar & I relayed this to the bartender who then asked the chef to come out & speak with me. He was so nice & even admitted he wasn’t a huge fan of veggies but had challenged himself to make them yummy. I said “Bravo!” after telling him & the bartender this dish of grilled cauliflower, roasted carrots, a veggie puree (carrots? romesco? couldn’t tell, didn’t matter) gremolata, wild mushrooms, frisée & arugula & pickled onions was “f——‘in fantastic!!” The flavor combo may sound weird & wasn’t pretty at the end, but it all worked so incredibly well. I was seriously tempted to use a finger to scrape the side of the dish for any remaining bits of yumminess. This area is dotted with wonderful restaurants, but please do yourself a favor & visit B&B & try this dish. You are welcome.

Looking for something fun to do on a visit to the Cozy Cottage? What about the Blue Ridge Scenic Rail-bikes? You leave from Blue Ridge & turn around a few miles away from the cottage on our road. While I think these would be best suited for late Fall-early Spring, it’s pretty mild here (for July) this weekend & I saw folks making their way back to downtown BR earlier today.

The Cozy Cottage got a good washing today which was long overdue.

Now it’s time to relax for the rest of the day. Happy Memorial Day.

We had the pleasure of talking with the owners & enjoying some of their delicious burgers & sausages on the charcoal grill this past weekend. This butcher shop is conveniently located just off of Hwy 515 in Ellijay on the way to our cottage. Do yourself a favor & stop by.

Finally got our barn quilts up this weekend! 😍😍
These were a design that my husband thought up, drew out, then painstakingly taped & stenciled to have them come out perfect. This was truly a labor of love but one he said he will most likely not want to do again anytime soon. I think they look perfect in this spot & makes it feel like you’re having lunch in cute, country diner.

We personally haven’t done this but seems like fun. Also, the intersection of our road & the railroad tracks, I believe is the end point. Let me know if you do this.
