It's my last sea day aboard the Disney Wonder, and I'm honestly not ready for this trip to end.

I've cruised before, but Alaska has been something completely different. Towering glaciers, whales breaching in the distance, charming little towns, cozy rainy mornings, and some of the most breathtaking scenery I've ever seen.

And then there's Disney... the incredible service, the little magical touches, amazing food, and moments that make you feel like a kid again no matter your age.

I've taken hundreds of photos this week, but pictures don't fully capture how it feels to stand on deck surrounded by mountains and glaciers or watch your family make memories they'll talk about for years.

I had booked the infamous White Pass Scenic Railway for our excursion in Skagway but the time was updated to 7:30 AM. Our afternoon excursion was cancelled due to low participation. We ended up talking to the Port Adventures desk to see what our options were because we would be in port until 8:00 PM and didn’t want to waste a day without anything to do but also didn’t want to start our day so early. Skagway is a small town and there is not a lot to do if you just walk around.

They were able to get us in a different time for the excursion that was cancelled but it meant giving up the train ride. I REALLY wanted to go in the train so I told Nick he will have to take me back so we can go on the next trip. 😉

It turned out to be the best decision because we had the most amazing day on our Glacier Point Wilderness Safari. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful. We got on a boat that took us down the Lynn Canal to Glacier Point. On the way we spotted a humpback whale so our captain circled back for us to get a good view. The whale ended up breaching multiple times putting on a fantastic show for us. It was awesome. We had a naturalist onboard, Emeline, who told us all kinds of interesting facts about the wildlife and area.

Once we got to the Glacier Point we boarded a school bus that took us on a short trip closer to the river where we were outfitted with rubber boots and life vests and given paddles. We walked through the “spooky” forest where we learned how far the glacier has receded and about the trees and plants including ones not to touch!

We then boarded a large, stable canoe. We paddled a few times to get us going in the right direction then our guide, Christian, used a small motor to get us to our next stop. We walked over to our next canoe which took us to the glacier. We past “Francis” who was a bird (I’ve forgotten what kind) who dive bombed us because she didn’t like us so close to her babies. She had her next on top of a rock we past. We learned about how no fish can swim in the silty water there due to the heavy sediment makes it impossible for them to breathe. The ground is muddy feeling and some areas can act like quick sand. We were able walk closer to the Davidson Glacier for pictures but not up to it. The scenery was just incredibly beautiful.

Once back to our first drop off point we were given lunch. Turkey and cheese sandwich with lettuce (condiments), Salsa Sun Chips, water, and chocolate chip granola bars. It was good.

On the boat ride back we got to see a huge amount of Stellar sea lions. I highly recommend this tour. The guides were a lot of fun. They come from all over to work here and they actually camp at Glacier Point in small rustic cabins. They have no running water or electricity. We learned they have a resident black bear this year that they’ve named “Buckles”. He’s been near sprayed once in the snout for trying to get into one of their cabins.

This was a Port Adventure that I booked through Disney Cruise Line although they can be booked direct and through Viator.

We were in for quite an unexpected treat today! This humpback whale repeatedly breached the water then started slapping the water with its fin putting on a show for us. It was an amazing excursion. This was NOT a whale watching excursion though. We took a boat ride to see the Davidson Glacier. They dropped us off at Glacier Point where we got in canoes to get closer. We also got to see sea lions. More photos & videos to come.

I just woke up to what’s going to be another amazing day seeing the beautiful Alaska wilderness. I didn’t quite get enough sleep because a client of mine called me at 1:00 AM who missed their flight from Heathrow to Shannon, Ireland. Work doesn’t stop for me even though I’m on vacation. I feel what my clients feel and last night was a nightmare for them. No one wants to start off their vacation missing a flight in a foreign country after you’ve been flying all day.

I was able to get them in touch with another airline that had flights available since American Airlines did not have more options. I gave them the information they’ll need to file a claim with their travel protection provider. Something happened with their luggage which caused them to miss the connection is all I know. I gave them what they needed to transfer from the airport to the hotel so they wouldn’t have to spend more time trying to figure out who to call for that. It worked out that they should arrive in time to make it to their first planned outing (an Irish Medieval Banquet).

I woke up to find an email from another client who left me the most amazing review! This truly made my day. 💕

Facebook has decided I can’t post videos with photos so here are some photos.

So far I love this cruise. We treated ourselves to the embarkation spa special of a massage and facial on the first day. Today was a sea day and we relaxed, worked out, played Bingo, saw a show, ate some yummy food and are now on our way to dinner at Tiana’s Place. I saw my first whale! 🐋
