Founded in 2025 by Ian Ord (creator of Where Sidewalks End) and Rick Calvert (founder of the TBEX travel conference), Uncharted Tours brings together more than 40 years of combined experience in sustainable travel, storytelling, and community-based tourism. What started as a vision to make meaningful travel easier to access is now a growing collection of curated, off-the-beaten-path adventures around the world. Our mission is to take you beyond the tourist trail—into the kitchens, workshops, backroads, and traditions where culture truly lives. To really know Ireland, you have to go beyond Dublin’s cobbled streets and Galway’s lively pubs. The true spirit of this country lives in its quiet hills, its rugged coastlines, and its people who carry ancient stories in their songs and traditions.

In Sligo and Leitrim, time slows down. You’ll walk among tombs older than the pyramids, plunge into the wild Atlantic after a surf lesson, share oysters and craft brews with local producers, cycle along the Shannon Blueway, and settle into eco-lodges tucked deep in the woods. Evenings bring fireside storytelling, traditional music, and shared meals that connect you to the land as much as the people.
