📍Amsterdam - How do I know this you may ask? Because I was staying in Amsterdam on the hottest day in recorded history and nearly melted…

I was on a budget trip with some friends so we stayed in a hostel with zero air circulation. We ended up finding a hotel nearby that promisingly had air and moved rooms at 3am…. Only to discover that one the rooms available didn’t have air either and the other room was already occupied!

It was an absolute mess.

My friends and I laugh about it now, but I do wonder if it could’ve been prevented. If someone had given me the insight (say a travel advisor perhaps) would I have known to book somewhere that had air-conditioning just to be safe?

For the average person researching the weather in Amsterdam, you would never come across scorching temperatures because that just isn’t the norm.

This is just one of those things that you would only know if you experienced it and won’t show up on a Google search.

This is also what makes planning with a travel advisor so beneficial. Insider information is invaluable when it comes to travel. It can, quite literally, make or break your trip!

A new series! Today’s tip: When to Book Flights - With all the inquiries I’ve been getting for spring break and the current cost of flights, we need to get this on the table…

Waiting until the last minute to get a flight deal is not the way to go anymore. You need to plan ahead for your own sanity (and your travel advisors).

This isn’t really anything new (raise your hand if you knew the Tuesday/Wednesday booking hack), and it’s really all about being proactive.

There are some months to avoid booking. Like you should not be trying to book spring break in January. Why? Because so is everyone else and the algorithms know this. Wanna get away for Christmas? Booking your flight (& hotel for that matter) in October is too late in the game.

Could you find a stellar deal? Sure. But that just isn’t worth the anxiety for me.

If you aren’t using Google Flights to research, you’re driving up the cost of your own flight. Search once, set an alert, and buy when you get the email.

Final Pro Tip: Do some initial research on flights before you meet with your travel advisor. Reason being you’ll know the general cost and won’t be surprised if they end up over budget.

📍Puerto Rico - My northern Puerto Rico guide is live!

To be honest, I can’t take all the credit for the itinerary because my dad and aunt who are native Puerto Rico, outlined it to start. However, I did add my own flare based upon restaurants and nightlife that I visited without their guidance.

What will you find in this guide, you may ask….well the first day, has you headed straight for the beach because we all know when you land in Puerto Rico that’s the first stop.

Of course there will be nights at La Placita and days spent lounging by the beach (or pool, whatever you fancy) but you’ll also explore the rainforest, go on boating adventures and shop your way through Old San Juan. And we can’t forget about the bioluminescent bay (mark my words, it will be the highlight of your trip).

Letting go of control can be hard…Take it from another “Type A” individual 🙋🏼‍♀️

At the very least, you know you have someone who is as detailed oriented as you making sure that every “t” is crossed and every “i” dotted.
