π¨Quick tropical storm updateπ¨
This is about as serious as it can get in the Gulf of Mexico.
Milton is now a major hurricane with winds of 125 mph. Additional strengthening is forecast and the NHC expects Milton to become an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane. Personally, I think it can reach Category 5.
What does this mean for cruisers:
If you are cruising in the Gulf of Mexico currently, or later this week, will be impacted at the very least with high winds, stormy conditions and very rough seas.
Be prepared for an itinerary change.
For anyone that is across the western part of Florida:
It cannot be overstated as to how dangerous of a situation this is.
It is very rare for hurricanes to approach from this direction. This means that areas that have never flooded before will flood. Areas along and south of the point of landfall will likely see historic storm surge.
If you are told to evacuate, PLEASE consider doing so. This storm has the potential to be even more deadly and catastrophic than Helene.
As always, stay safe!
