In light of the recent U.S. military action in Venezuela, including strikes and the reported capture of Nicolás Maduro, the regional travel landscape has changed significantly. Travelers with itineraries involving Venezuela or nearby countries should review their plans immediately.

Key impacts on travel:

• Destination risk: Venezuela remains at Level 4: Do Not Travel due to extreme security risks, wrongful detention, civil unrest, and lack of consular support; authorities have urged citizens to depart and avoid all Venezuelan border areas.

• Airspace and flights: FAA airspace restrictions and prior airspace closures have led airlines to suspend service to Venezuela and to cancel or reroute multiple flights across the Caribbean and northern South America.

• Support limitations: With U.S. Embassy operations in Caracas suspended and consular services extremely limited, assistance for foreign nationals in Venezuela is minimal to nonexistent.
