In 2014 a group of aviation professionals represented by the Volare Air Group acquired the Intellectual Property for the Northeast Airlines' brand. Northeast was formally founded as Boston-Maine Airways in 1931, later becoming National Airlines, and finally formed by a group of four pioneers, one of which was Amelia Earhart, to found Northeast Airlines. Northeast was acquired in 1972 by Delta Airl
ines for the much wanted profitable Boston routes. For a short period of the earlier Northeast history, Billionaire Howard Hughes owned a majority stake in the airline from 1962 through 1964. Today Northeast is poised to return as a proud Yellowbird serving the Northeast and Atlantic coast states, including expansion plans in serving the Midwest and the Caribbean as well. Northeast will provide common fares for the common good without the gimmicks of ancillary markups. Continue to follow Northeast in future posts with the continual development of future service plans.
